Influence of ¥á-tocopherol on sublingual gland acina cells of albino rats

Abstract
The actrities of acid mucopolysaccharide and glycoprotein of sublingual gland acinar cells were histo¡þchemirnlly studied in the alpha-tocopherol administered albino rats.
The experimental rats, weighing about 100gm. were injected with 0. 2mL alpha-tocopherol (DL-¥á¡þtocopherol 10mg. was dissolved in sesame oil) subcutaneously, during 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 10 and 14 days. respectively.
The histochemical staining methods used were Mowry¢¥s alcian blue reactioe (acid mucopolysaccharides) and McMaus¢¥ PAS reaction (glycoprotein).
The results were ,as follows
1) Acid mucopolysaccharides had marked activities in the groups administered with alpha-tocopherol for 3 and 5 days.
2) Glycoproteins had marked activities in the groups administered with alpha-tocopherol for 3.5 and 7 days.
